FINAL RESULTS
May 14, 2024, BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Hunter Schuiling led the Grand Rapids Community College golf team to the NJCAA Division II Region XII Championship on Tuesday at the Bedford Valley Country Club.
The regional championship win was the team's tenth in program history - fourth in the past six years - and qualifies it for the NJCAA National Tournament.
"This team can get it done regardless of the situation," head coach John Forton said. "Down one coach and our number one player (Drew Harrington) and still finishing first is a huge testament to our program. The hard work and long hours paid off and I'm excited to bring this great group of guys to nationals."
GRCC shot rounds of 323, 310, and 319 for a final score of 952. Its round of 310 was the second best score of the tournament.
Oakland Community College, 956, and Muskegon, 961 also qualified for nationals after finishing in second and third place.
Schuiling's score of 229 included a team-best 74 in the second round. He finished tied for second overall - his best finish of the season - and earned himself All-Region honors. He also led the team with eight birdies and an eagle.
