Apr 15, 2024, ADA, MICH. – Ty Marchlewski shot a one-under par to help the Grand Rapids Community College golf team win the GRCC Invitational on Monday by a wide margin at the Egypt Valley Golf Course.
GRCC's score of 310 was 18 strokes better than second place Montcalm and Muskegon Community College.
"The Raiders have spent a lot of time improving their overall games," said head coach John Forton. "I'm very pleased with the effort at Egypt Valley, a course that plays extremely difficult. Marchlewski's 71 was an incredible round under the tough conditions."
A total of 67 golfers and 12 teams from around the Michigan Community College Athletic Association competed in the event.
Marchlewski wasn't the only Raider to have a great finish. In fact, five of the Raiders six golfers finished inside the top-13.
Sophomore Drew Harrington tied for 5th with a score of 78; Evan Kaiser (79) tied for 7th; McCoy DenHartigh and Hunter Schuiling (82) tied for 13th; and Brady Doyle (88) tied for 27th.
The team is back in action April 19 in Jackson at the Jackson College Invitational.
