Mar 24, 2024, SHEPHERDSVILLE, KY. – In its first competition since Oct. 16, the Grand Rapids Community College golf team was back in action playing three rounds against tough competition at the LTU Heritage Hill Collegiate.
"For our first competition of the year I was pleased," said head coach John Forton. "We struggled with the short game due to the lack of practice, but I'm very confident that this group will excel once we can get some consistent practice time."
GRCC was led by sophomores Ty Marchlewski (76-74-79) and Drew Harrington (77-73-79) who finished 13 over par and in 24th place.
The Raiders totaled 34 birdies during the tournament, including seven for Marchlewski and Harrington. They also each had an eagle.
Hunter Schuiling (78-82-81) and Jayson Bultman (77-83-82) finished 47th and 48th respectively out of 69 total golfers.
McCoy DenHartigh, 82-83-87; Zach Basiaga, 84-88-84; Brady Doyle, 86-85-87; Evan Kaiser, 86-88-88, rounded out the Raider golfers.
The team is back in action April 5 in Indiana at the Marian University-Ancilla Invitational.
