Sept. 25, 2023, ST. CLAIR, Mich. – Ty Marchewski led the Grand Rapids Community golf team to a first place finish at the Kromer Invitational on Monday and also earned medalist honors.
"Wasn't our best effort today, but proud of how the guys competed out there," coach John Forton said. "As long as we stay focused, good things happen."
With the win, GRCC has now won its last three tournaments, including last Monday's Oakland Invite and last Friday's Kirtland Invite.
The Raiders finished with a team score of 320, eight strokes better than the host school, St. Clair County Community College.
Marchewski - who was named All-Conference during his freshman season - grabbed his first medalist honors of the year by shooting a 75.
Jayson Bultman tied for second (of 46 total golfers) with Montcalm's Zach Johnson with a score of 76. Its Bultman's second top-five finish of the season.
Drew Harrington finished in the top-10 for the second time this year with an 80.
Brady Doyle, 81; Evan Kaiser, 82; Zach Basiaga, 82; and Hunter Schuiling, 87, rounded out the Raiders' golfers.
The team is back in action Oct. 2 in Flint at the Mott Community College Invitational.
