Sept. 18, 2023, AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Jayson Bultman led the Grand Rapids Community golf team to a first place finish at the Oakland Community College Invitational on Monday.
"I was very satisfied with our effort today," coach John Forton said. "It's all about outworking our competition. Good things happen when we stay focused and play with purpose."
Competing in their second event of the season, the GRCC Raiders got off to a slow start at the 10-team event held at the Fieldstone Country Club, but finished strong to share the title with the host team with a score of 317 strokes.
Bultman shot a 77 - just one stroke higher of his career best collegiate round - and finished tied for fourth place.
Drew Harrington and Hunter Schuiling both shot solid rounds of 79, finishing tied for 10th.
McCoy DenHartigh, 82; and Ty Marchlewski, 85; rounded out the Raiders' golfers.
The team is back in action Sept. 22 at the Grayling Country Club at the Kirtland Invitational.
