Box Score Dec. 21, 2024, MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Community College women's basketball team faced a daunting challenge Saturday afternoon, dropping a road matchup to No. 10 Mid Michigan College, 86-36.
The Raiders (1-6) were playing their second game in just 17 hours after taking on Cuyahoga Community College on Friday night. The lack of rest, coupled with the Lakers formidable ranking in the latest NJCAA Division II poll, proved too much for GRCC to overcome.
Mid Michigan (11-2) showcased why it's a top-10 team, dominating on both ends of the court. The 36-point output marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring game of the season, while the 86 points surrendered were the most they have given up this year.
Tianna Daye led GRCC with a solid individual effort, scoring 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including 2-for-4 from beyond the arc, and adding three steals. Ava Schultz controlled the boards, grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with five points.
Despite their efforts, the Raiders struggled to find consistent offense and fell behind early to a relentless Mid Michigan squad.
Looking to regroup, GRCC will return to action on Jan. 4 when they host Montcalm Community College at 1 p.m. in their first game of the new year.
