Box Score Port Huron, MI. -- The GRCC women's basketball teams season came to an end Friday, March 9th as the Raiders fell to #3 seed Ancilla College 83-53 in the District G Semifinals. The Raiders finished the season with a 14-14 record.
The Chargers led by six after the first quarter, 26-20, but broke the game open in the second and third quarters, scoring 21 and 25 points respectively in each quarter while holding GRCC to 10 and 14 points over that same time frame. Ancilla applied heavy on ball pressure throughout the game, forcing the Raiders into 26 turnovers on the night. Due to the turnovers and 16 offensive rebounds, Ancilla took 28 more shots than GRCC, allowing the Chargers to stretch out the lead in the second half.
The Raiders were paced by Makayla Beld who had 10 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks. Ten total Raiders scored, while all eleven players on the team played in some capacity.
The Chargers were led by LaRae Roscoe with 18 points, five assist and four steals, while Alyssa Williams had 11 points and two assists.
The GRCC women's basketball team will say goodbye to six sophomores who had a profound impact on the women's basketball program during their two year careers at GRCC. Next year's team will look very different with only five freshman slated to return.
Ancilla will play Saturday at 5:30 PM against Lake Michigan College in the District G Championship game at the SC4 Fieldhouse in Port Huron, MI.
