Box Score Grand Rapids, MICH – GRCC's 7
th seeded women's basketball team upset #2 Mid-Michigan Community College last night 68-65 to advance to the semi-finals of the
NJCAA District G Tournament. The loss ends Mid-Michigan's season as the Lakers finished 21-4 overall with a 14-2 MCCAA record. GRCC, now 6-10 in MCCAA play, will prepare for a deeper post-season run.
Hallee Breimayer led the Raiders in scoring with 14 points adding 6 rebounds 2 steals and 4 assists.
Makayla Beld finished the contest with an 11 point, 10 rebound double-double while leading her team in blocks with 4.
Mya Jordan added 3 blocks while scoring 10 points shooting a team high 57% from the field.
Mid-Michigan's Lakers were led by Breyton Meeks with 22 points. Meeks added an assist and 3 rebounds to her night's total. Clara Loukus and Meija Sebbas combined for 23 points.
GRCC shot 86% from the line to Mid-Michigan's 75% while out-rebounding Mid-Michigan 39-32. The Lakers gave up 16 turnovers to GRCC's 15.
The Raiders have a couple days off to prepare for #3 Ancilla Community College this Friday at 1:00PM at the St. Clair Fieldhouse in Port Huron, MI. Ancilla earned a berth into the semi's with a 67-57 win over Jackson
Community College last night.
Friday's contest will be the third meeting between GRCC and Ancilla this season. The winner of that game will compete in the District G Championship on Saturday, March 10
th at 5:30PM.
