Box Score Muskegon, MICH – GRCC's women's basketball team snapped their five game win streak with a 50-52 loss to Muskegon Community College this past Saturday.
Despite a miserable first half where the Raiders shot .206 from the field including missing each of 13 three point attempts, GRCC managed to keep the game within reach with 8 lead
changes throughout the contest and a two point GRCC lead in the 4
th quarter.
Muskegon's Samantha Taylor's two-point shot at 3:28 in the fourth gave the Jayhawks the lead for good.
With the win Muskegon's women improved to 8-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play. GRCC is now 8-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
The Raiders were led by sophomore
Makayla Beld who finished with 24 rebounds, 20 points and three blocks shooting 6-of-13 from the field and 8-of-9 from the line.
Mya Jordan added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals shooting 8-of-19 from the field and 1-of-5 from the line.
Claire Flewelling finished with 4 assists and three points shooting just 1-of-6 from the field.
Hallee Breimayer led the team in assists with 7 and added 7 rebounds, but finished with just 5 points having shot 2-of-14 from the field while 1-of-8 from behind the arc.
Josie Manion also struggled finishing 0-of-11 from the field making 0-of-8 from three-point range.
Muskegon's Delaney Bolles, Elysia Mattos and Samantha Taylor each finished the night with 13 points. Tierra Williams led the Jayhawks in rebounds with 11. Janaya Ferrell finished with 7 points and 9 rebounds.
Both teams struggled shooting as Muskegon's .290 bested the Raiders'.268. Muskegon finished the night shooting .333 from behind the arc at 5-of-15 while the Raiders made just 3-of-23 attempts for a .130 percentage.
The Raiders host Lansing Community College's Stars (7-6, 1-1) this Wednesday at 5:30PM.
