Box Score Grand Rapids, MICH – GRCC's women's basketball team won their fifth straight game last night defeating Jackson College 63-51 in the conference opener to improve to 8-3 overall.  Sophomore Makayla Beld led the team with a 12 point, 10 rebound double-double shooting 5-of-9 from the field and 2-of-3 from the line.
 
Claire Flewelling led the Raiders in scoring with 16 points shooting 4-of-8 from the field while making 3-of-5 from behind the arc and 5-of-7 from the line. Josie Manion finished the night with 13 points, two steals and two blocks. 

Mya Jordan led the team in blocks with 3 and added 9 rebounds and 7 points.   Hallee Breimayer led the Raiders in assists and steals with 10 and 3.

Jackson's Sandra Guilford led the Jets with a 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 steals.    Sydney Brown added 13 points and 5 steals. 

The Raiders out-shot the Jets .396 to .269 from the field, .353 to .167 from behind the arc and .704 to .550 from the line.  Jackson did finish with fewer turnovers as GRCC finished the night with 30 to the Jets' 22.

The loss leaves Jackson with a 2-7 overall record and 0-1 in conference play.  GRCC visits Muskegon Community College this Saturday for a 1PM matchup against the 7-5 Jayhawks.
