Grand Rapids, MI. -- The Grand Rapids Community College Women's Basketball team defeated Ancilla College Friday night at the Ford FIeldhouse 62-39.

The Raiders were off to an excellent start leading the game 21-11 after the first quarter and 27-13 at halftime. Ancilla only scored 2 points in the second quarter thanks to the excellent defensive performance by Raiders.Â

"We did a little bit of everything well, sparked by great, defensive intensity and focus," said head coach Dave Glazer.

Allazae Lloyd led all scorers with 18 points, along with 8 rebounds and 3 assists.
Makayla Beld finished with 11 points and 5 rebounds.
Emily Pendred added 8 points and a game-high 19 rebounds.

The Raiders shot 55 percent from the the three point line (6/11) and shot 44 percent overall, putting together one of the best all around games of the season.

The Chargers struggled all game. They shot 28 percent from the field and only 23 percent from the three point line only connecting on 5/22 from behind the arc.

"The girls played free offensively and in an unselfish manner," said Glazier. "We doubled them up on the glass 52-26, which was led by Emily who had 19 (rebounds)."

On top of leading the team in scoring with 18 points, Lloyd held Ancilla's leading scorer, Quaynika Merriweather to just 5 points.
