Grand Rapids, Mich – GRCC's basketball teams hosted Mott Community College this week and finished with wins as the men topped Mott's #8 Bears 88-76 while the women delivered a 67-49 victory.  The win leaves the women at 1-1 on the season following an opening game loss to Aquinas College JV 46-60.  GRCC's men improved to 2-0 after taking down the JV Saints 96-69.

Leading the charge for the women were Mya Jordan (Kentwood, MI, Godwin Heights ('17)) and Makayla Beld (Hudsonville, MI, Husdsonville ('16)).  Jordan finished with a cool 21 rebound 18 point double-double while adding an assist and a steal.  Beld finished with a double-double of her own of 15 rebounds and 24 points.  Hallee Breimayer (Belding, MI, Belding ('17)) finished with 7 points and a team high 5 steals.

Josie Manion (Saranac, MI, Saranac ('16)) led the Raiders in assists with 7 adding 1 block and 1 steal. 

Mott's Alaysia Fowlkes, Claudia Freed and Jasmine Robinson each finished with double-digit scoring figures with Fowlkes leading the way with 14.  Freed's 9 rebounds were her
team's high.

As a team, GRCC out rebounded the Bears 60 to 29, but had four more turnovers finishing the contest with 29.  The Raiders finished the game shooting 37.7% from the field and 20% from behind the arc while 73.3% from the line.

GRCC's men were led by Anthony McIntosh (Grand Rapids, MI, Ottawa Hills ('16)) and Curtis Davison (Grand Rapids, MI, Union ('15)).  McIntosh finished led the team in scoring with 24 points. While 4-of-14 from the field, McIntosh made 16-of-17 from the line while adding 4 assists and a steal.  Davison finished the contest 3-of-9 from behind the arc and 7-of-18 from field adding two steals.

Gregory Robinson (Lansing, MI, Everett ('17)) led the Raiders in rebounds with 12 while adding a pair of assists.  Darron Ewing Jr. (Kentwood, MI, East Kentwood ('15))'s two blocks were the team's high.

Terrance Sewell and Henry Speight led the bears with 16 and 14 points, respectively.

The Bears out-rebounded GRCC 48-47 and both teams finished with 15 turnovers, but GRCC out produced the Bears on the line shooting 92.9% to Mott's 69.2%.

GRCC's teams travel to KVCC this Friday and Saturday to compete at the KVCC showcase as the Raiders will take on Schoolcraft on Friday night and Delta on Saturday.  The women's game Friday tips off at 1PM with the men following at 3.  On Saturday the women will start at 11AM with the men following at 1PM.
