Raiders Close Regular Season at Lansing; Both Teams Set to Host Regional Openers

Feb. 24, 2026, LANSING, MI. – Grand Rapids Community College basketball teams wrapped up the regular season Saturday afternoon at Lansing Community College, with both squads falling to the Stars in their final conference contests.

Women Fall to No. 4 Ranked Stars, Finish Second in Conference

The Raiders dropped an 86-60 decision to the No. 4-ranked Stars, concluding the regular season at 19-9 overall and 8-4 in conference play. GRCC finishes second in the league standings.
LCC capped a perfect conference championship run, improving to 24-2 overall and 12-0 in league play.

Sophomore Tianna Daye led all scorers with 21 points, shooting 8-of-16 from the field and 5-of-10 from three-point range. She also tied four teammates for a team-high five rebounds.

Averi Peot added 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting, including a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc and 3-of-4 at the free throw line. Peot filled the stat sheet with four rebounds, a team-high five assists, and a team-high two blocks.

Despite the loss, the Raiders secured the No. 2 seed heading into postseason play.

Men Come Up Short in Title Bid, Earn No. 3 Seed

The Raiders' men's team saw its conference championship hopes slip away in a 98-88 loss to the Stars. GRCC finishes the regular season 20-8 overall and 10-4 in conference play, placing third in the final standings.

LCC improved to 21-7 (11-3) and finished tied for the conference title with Kalamazoo Valley Community College.

GRCC trailed by as many as 15 points but mounted several second-half runs, cutting the deficit to one possession multiple times. Each time the Raiders threatened, the Stars answered, preventing GRCC from ever taking the lead.

Sophomore Nate Keil poured in a game-high 25 points, going 7-of-12 from the field and 12-of-17 from the free throw line, while adding eight rebounds and four assists. Freshman Lucas Pitsch recorded a career-high 19 points on 5-of-11 shooting and a perfect 8-for-8 from the stripe, along with six rebounds and three assists. Reigning conference Player of the Week Matt Richards contributed 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting and grabbed 14 boards, marking his ninth straight double-double.

Regional Tournament Up Next

While a conference championship was out of reach, both Raider teams now turn their attention to postseason play.

The GRCC men, the No. 3 seed, will host No. 4 seed Lake Michigan College on Tuesday, March 3 in the opening round of regionals.

The Raider women, earning the No. 2 seed, will also host Lake Michigan College, the No. 5 seed, on Tuesday.

With a win, either team will advance to the regional semifinals later in the week at Mott Community College.
