Grand Rapids, MI.-- The Grand Rapids Community College women's basketball team defeated Mid Michigan Community College 43-39 on Friday night (1.27.17) at the Ford Fieldhouse.
 
Makayla Beld and Emily Pendred both finished with a double-double. Beld added 15 points and 13 rebounds. Pendred chipped in 11 points and a game high 13 rebounds.
 
GRCC had 55 total rebounds compared to MMCC's 34. Beld and Pendred had 31 rebounds between the two of them.
 
"The way those kids get after it inside keep us in games, said head coach Dave Glazier. "If we do a good job defensively around the perimeter to force tough shots, they are going to get the rebounds."
 
MMCC shot just 21 percent on the night, and GRCC shot just 30 percent and only 17 percent from the three-point line.
 
"We had better ball control against their press. We looked comfortable and new when to attack," said Glazier.
 
The next game for the raiders is on Wednesday, February 1 at Jackson Community College at 5:30.
