South Holland, IL. -- The Bulldogs of South Suburban entered the game against GRCC ranked #1 in the country. The Raiders started fast and pushed out to a 20-12 lead, thanks to 8 of 11 shooting,
Arthur Pearson (who finished with a game/career high 31 points) was the catalyst to the early lead and had 12 of those points. The Bulldogs would then show why they were ranked #1 in the country, outscoring the Raiders 36-13 the remainder of the half. The closest the Raiders would get was 10 points with 12:30 left in the game... Corey Jones made his college debut for Grand Rapids and scored his first points at the 13:13 mark of the 2nd half.
GRCC was led by Pearson, who scored a career high 31 points on 12-23 shooting.
Jeffrey Drake-Todd finished with 16. The Bulldogs were paced by Rasheide Bell and Deante Cisero, who both scored 22 points respectively.
The Raiders will take the floor tomorrow night (January 4) at Muskegon Community College (6-3, 0-0 MCCAA-W) in both teams first MCCAA-W conference game of the season. The next home game for the Raiders will be Friday, January 6th, when GRCC takes on Rival Lansing Community College. The Lady Raiders play at 5:30pm, followed by the men at 7:30pm. Both games will be played at the Ford Fieldhouse.
