Grand Rapids, Mich – Although the temperature outdoors may indicate otherwise, basketball is back. The Lady Raiders start their quest for a conference championship tonight (Nov. 4) against Wayne County Community College, tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Gerald R. Ford Fieldhouse.

The Raiders will be led by first year head coach Ray Kimball, who comes to GRCC after accumulating over 30 years of coaching experience. Kimball's most recent stop was at Portland High School, where he led the women's team to 9 League Titles, 6 District Titles, 3 Regional Titles and 2 MHSAA Semi-Final appearances in 2008 and 2010.

GRCC returns two members from last year's team, Kristen Schubring and Ciara Sundermann. Schubring, last year's team MVP, averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds per game, while Sundermann, a combo guard, started all 23 games, averaging 35 minutes, 8. 2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2 assists. In addition to the two returners, Coach Kimball has signed 12 new players for the upcoming campaign.
