Grand Rapids, Mich – GRCC's women's basketball team is in the hunt for a NJCAA District G Championship and playing a must-win game tonight to keep that quest ahead of them.
GRCC's women commence NJCAA District G Tournament action tonight in Muskegon, Michigan facing a stout MCC Jayhawk squad. MCC enters tournament play as the 4
th seed with a 9-7 MCCAA record while 16-11 overall.
GRCC's Raiders travel to Muskegon as the 5
th seed with an 8-8 MCCAA record while 9-15 overall.
GRCC is 1-1 against MCC having suffered a 55-82 loss in January but rebounded to defeat the Jayhawks on the road 71-64 later in the season.
GRCC's women will have their hands full containing Taylor Brown and Krystal Geers. In their first meeting in 2014 Geers went for 17 points and 15 rebounds while Brown led the Jayhawks with 22 points. In the second matchup, Brown again led MCC in scoring while Geers racked up another double-double with 13 points and 17 rebounds.
While it is essential that the Raiders keep those two in check, GRCC standouts
Stephanie Stevens and
Danielle Harrison will also have to play to their potential and lead GRCC on the floor.
It seems that GRCC's greatest indicator of success this season has to do not with any single player, but turnovers. With 20 or more turnovers per game, GRCC has a record of 3-13. With 12 or less, they are undefeated.
