Women's basketball defeats Jackson 74-57

Box Score Grand Rapids, Mich – While a leaky roof over the Hunsburger Arena temporarily had the Raiders defeated as they were forced to move their home contest to Aquinas College's Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center, GRCC's  women's basketball team left the Saints home Arena with wins as the women downed the Jets 74-57.

With the win GRCC's women improved to 7-6 in conference play as they gear up for a tough series of games against some of the MCCAA West's best competitors over the next week before starting NJCAA District G play on March 4th.

The Raiders started slowly, and were down 6-9 to the Jets, but a 16-0 run over the next six and a half minutes witnessed the Raiders take a 22-9 lead.  GRCC led by as many as 18 in the first half but finished it up 37-21 as Jackson went on a 14-2 run of their own in the last couple minutes of play.

In the second half 's lead was cut to as few as two points, and grew to as much as 19 as the Raiders held on for the 74-57 win.

Stephanie Stevens led the Raiders with a career high 30 points while adding 8 assists and 5 rebounds.

Sara Karamol finished the night with 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Danielle Harrison earned yet another double-double scoring 10 points with 13 rebounds.

Kayla Rosinski rounds off the top four scorers with 10 points of her own and added 5 assists and three steals.

Friday night Lansing Community College travels to Grand Rapids for a home contest against the Raiders at 5:30.  With rain in the forecast there is a chance this game could be moved off site Friday if the roof of the Gerald R.  is still dripping.  Please check www.grccraiders.com as well as on Facebook and Twitter for updates about the game site.
