Box Score Battle Creek, MIch – A 91-69 win over Kellogg Community College's Bruins leaves Grand Rapids in third in the MCCAA West at 7-3 overall and 1-0 in MCCAA play.
GRCC's Raiders jumped out to a quick 16-4 lead against the Bruins Wednesday night but Kellogg's continued to rally back in the first keeping the score within three points several times before entering the locker rooms down 36-40 on their home court.
Despite their intense first half effort the Bruins had little left in the second half as the Raiders went on a 20-6 scoring run and never looked back downing the Bruins by 22 on the road.
GRCC was led in scoring by Freshman
DeMarkus Stuckey who finished the night with 17 points while adding two steals and three assists.
Deontae Hudson and
Courtney Hill each added 14 points. Hill added seven rebounds, two assists and three steals before the final buzzer sounded while Hudson added a team high five assists.
Nate Hollenbeck shot 4-of-6 from the field and 3-of-3 from the line to add 11 points for GRCC.
Willie Duke contributed 12 from the bench shooting 5-of-6 with three rebounds and a block.
Miles Robinson grabbed seven rebounds and added seven points to the scoreboard with two steals and four assists.
The Bruins allowed 24 turnovers to the Raiders' 10 and were outscored in the paint 56-30 on the night.
Luke Heide and Nathan Taylor led the Bruins with 16 and 14 points respectively. Taylor led the Bruins in rebounds with 9.
GRCC, now 7-3, hosts the MCCAA West's #1 Glen Oaks on Friday January 10
th a 7:30PM. The Vikings are 11-2 overall and 2-0 in MCCAA play riding a five-game win streak.
