Men's Basketball Earns NJCAA National Tournament Berth

Box Score University Center, MI -- When the unranked Raiders of Grand Rapids Community College took to the floor to face the #9 ranked Vikings of Glen Oaks Community College, no one thought they would win.  Despite dealing out the last loss Glen Oaks suffered this season in an intense 105-103 overtime win, GRCC was the underdog.

Two halves, eleven lead changes and a couple hours later GRCC's Raiders walked off the court stunning the entire gym with a 78-73 win over Glen Oaks.  The net was cut down.  Trophies were awareded.  Grand Rapids was, for the second consecutive year, the NJCAA's District 9 Champions.

Leading the charge for the Raiders was Freshman Deontae Hudson.  Hudson lead his team in scoring with twenty-four points while adding ten rebounds and two steals.

Sophomore Alex Mustert led the Raiders in rebounding with 11, and enjoyed another double-double by adding 11 points.

Freshman Kevin Badger struggled from the field shooting just 2-of-11, but dished out 10 assists to his team while adding six rebounds and two steals.

Freshman Miles Robinson shot 5-of-8 from behind the arc and finished the night with 20 points.

Glen Oaks' William Powell led the Vikings with 33 points.

Miles Robinson was named the NJCAA District 9 All-Tournament Team.  Deontae Hudson was named the Tournament MVP.

The win sends Grand Rapids back to Danville, IL for a chance at the NJCAA Division II National Championship.  The Tournament will take place March 19th to March 23rd.

The pairings have not yet been announced, but the Regional Qualifiers are posted here as they earn their berths.
