Women's basketball bests Glen Oaks 63-58

Box Score Grand Rapids, MI – GRCC’s women’s basketball team picked up win over Glen Oaks last night 63-58.  The Raiders, who were on a five-game slide, now hold a 4-7 conference record, and have a win on their backs as the gear up for a struggling Muskegon Community College team next week.

The Raiders were led in scoring Meghan Mitchell who finished the night playing in all 40 minutes of the contest with 16 points going 5-of-9 from the field and 6-of-10 from the line.

Mitchell added seven rebounds, four assists and one steal to her rap sheet before the night was through.

Danielle Goad finished with 14 points, four rebounds and two steals and Danielle Harrison finished with 11 points and ten rebounds.

Libby Kwiatkowski and Alyssa VandenBerge combined for 13 on the night.  Kwaitkowsi also tallied nine rebounds while VandenBerge added five of her own.

Kayla Rosinski delivered nine points of her own with seven coming in the second half playing all 40 minutes of the game.

GRCC’s turnovers continued to give Glen Oaks the opportunity to get back in the game, but ultimately, the Vikings forced GRCC to win the contest from the free throw line.

Raider players collectively took 28 attempts from the line last night, making 15.  Despite having shot only 7-of-15 from in the second half, it was enough for GRCC to finish with the win.

The loss leaves Glen Oaks with an overall record of 7-18 while 2-10 in MCCAA play.

GRCC squares off against Muskegon Community College’s Jayhawks on Wednesday February 13 on their home court at GRCC’s Hunsburger Arena.  Muskegon holds a 9-14 overall record while 2-8 in MCCAA play.
