Box Score Grand Rapids, MI – The Lady Raiders fall to 3-7 in conference play following a narrow 58-61 loss against Kellogg Community College Wednesday night. The Raiders, now 5-14 overall, battled the Bruins seemingly point for point, but couldn’t close the three point deficit in the second half.
While GRCC is still feeling the effects of being without their leading scorer,
Stephanie Stevens the team has truly done a fantastic job of filling in the void left by her absence as every member of the team has stepped up their offensive contribution.
Freshmen
Danielle Goad and
Danielle Harrison led the team in scoring last night with 14 points each. Harrison added 12 rebounds for her second consecutive double-double while Goad added 7 rebounds. Collectively that duo shot just 4-of-15 from the field but drew significant fouls going 20-of-29 from the line.
Kayla Rosinski led the Raiders in assists with 4 while adding 5 steals.
Meghan Mitchell recorded 5 steals as well with 6 rebounds and 2 assists.
Both teams recorded nearly identical figures in team rebounding, steals, and assists, and shooting percentage. Kellogg, however, managed 9 fewer turnovers and forced GRCC to earn their points from the free throw line where as a team, GRCC shot just 24-35.
Kellogg was led in scoring by Janeesa Jamierson and Jackie Harwood who combined for 23 points. Charese Vassar led the Bruins in rebounds with 10 and added 8 points shooting 4-of-4 from the line.
The win leaves Kellogg in 5
th in the MCCAA West, one spot above GRCC.
GRCC next hosts Glen Oaks, now 2-9 in MCCAA play and 7-17 overall on Friday night at 5:30PM.
