Ancilla bound, Raiders need win to make playoffs

Grand Rapids, MI—The ladies are on the cusp of clinching a playoff birth, and have a chance to clinch their spot on Saturday. The Raiders are headed to Donaldson, Indiana to take part in Ancilla’s annual Chargers for a Change cancer fund raising game.

The Chargers are struggling mightily during the 2012-2013 campaign, having gone 0-12 during conference play thus far.  The Chargers last victory came on December 1 against Wilbur Wright College.

The Raiders hope to send the lowly Chargers even lower to earn their third consecutive victory.

Currently sitting in sixth in the MCCAA’s Western Conference, the Raiders appear to be a near lock to clinch the last playoff spot, and a win over Ancilla would certainly help those odds.

Although they continue to battle the injury bug, the Raiders are playing with a higher degree of confidence than they have for most of the season. The core players, Danielle Harrison, Danielle Goad, Katie Mitchell, Alyssa VandenBerge and Kayla Rosinski are each providing unique contributions to the team.

Harrison is finding her offensive touch, and is driving the lane more frequently. Goad continues to be a leading scorer for the team, and has been playing a very physical game, Mitchell is serving up assists a torrential pace, VandenBerg has been using her size to post up, and Rosinski has been assisting in the scoring department.

The Raiders head to Ancilla on Saturday and will take to the court at 5:30 PM.
