Raiders host West Michigan battle tonight

Grand Rapids, MI—The Raiders are preparing to do conference battle with rival Muskegon Community College tonight. Having lost 8 of their last 10 games, the Jayhawks desperately need to turn things around if they have any hopes of qualifying for the post season. The Raiders, however, would like nothing more than to squash any hope that remains.

Despite struggling during the 2012-2013 season, the Jayhawks do employ a couple of guys who are having stellar individual performances. Freshman Jalin Rose has been posting some big numbers, with upwards of 18 points per game along with 6 boards per game. Teammate Delvon Brown is also having no trouble finding the bottom of the net, averaging 11 points per game.

The Raiders roster has been experiencing a bit of resurgence after some midseason struggles.

Most notably, Raider Sophomore Alex Mustert has been putting up numbers that show why he is a top JUCO prospect. Mustert looks like Dennis Rodman down low, and has averaged an astonishing 16.3 boards per game over the last 3 contests. Equally as impressive, his point total has fallen to below 20 only one time across the last 5 contests.

The Raiders are coming off what is arguably their biggest win of the season after downing the nationally ranked Glen Oaks Community College Vikings last Friday. Though the team didn’t receive a nod in the NJCAA polls, the win has noticeably added a step to the guys game. Having won 3 of their last 4 contests, the guys will look to climb further up the MCCAA’s Western Conference standings tonight.

The men take the court at the Gordon Hunsberger Arena in the Ford Fieldhouse tonight at 7:30 PM.
