Men's and Women's Basketball fall to Mott CC

Box Score Flint, MI—It was a tough opening night for the GRCC Basketball programs, with both the men and women losing to Mott CC. The women took the court first and dropped the game by a score of 54-51, despite a strong late game effort. The men struggled mightily against the powerhouse Bears, dropping their contest by a score of 68-87.

Despite losing to Mott, Head Coach Tracy Little claims the game was a great experience. "It was fun to watch our girls play. We had a great push at the end, but couldn't pull it off. We'll rebound in the future."

Though Mott CC is an unranked team in the NJCAA's polls, they have established themselves as one of the premier programs in the MCCAA.

The guys squad followed, and entered the competition with a lot of confidence.

The confidence, simply put, was not enough.

The team never quite meshed after getting off to a sluggish start. Despite the failed effort, the team remains confident. The loss has helped them to identify both strong suits in their game and the areas in which they lack.

Sophomore returner, Deontae Hudson, was extremely disappointed with himself and his play during the game.

"I played like a part timer. I put the loss on my shoulders, but we'll bounce back."

The guys take the court next against another tough competitor; Oakland Community College. Hudson is confident that they'll rebound in a big way to get their record back up to .500.

"They're good, but we are too. We're going to win this one and get our season on track."
