Benton Harbor, MI—The women dropped their third consecutive game to Lake Michigan College on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 81-62. The girls have now fallen to 3-5 in conference play, and have a couple of tough contests upcoming.
The women took the court first in Benton Harbor, and LMC took little time to gain the lead. The #10 ranked Lake Michigan utilized a press method that they’ve become somewhat famous for, and headed into half with a 10 point lead.
The second half proved to be more of the same, with Lake Michigan outscoring the Raiders by a total of 9 points.
Although the ladies fell by 19 to a very tough squad, there were a few positives to take away from the performance. Alyssa VandenBerge continues to find her form and appears poised for a breakout performance. Number 42 had 15 points on the night and went 11-14 on the free throw line.
Teammate Meghan Mitchell had 7 assists and a pair of steals.
The Raiders are in for yet another tough match on Friday, as they host the Cougars of Kalamazoo Valley Community College. The Cougars are currently the top ranked team in the MCCAA’s Western Conference. GRCC hosts KVCC on Friday at 5:30 PM at the Gordon Hunsberger Arena.
