Benton Harbor, MI—After dropping a close one to Lansing Community College last week, the Raiders men’s squad have regrouped and are playing with some confidence. The men snuck past a struggling Lake Michigan College team by a score of 61-54.
The return of Kevin Badger after a brief time out from basketball has proven to be huge for the Raiders, so much so that teammates cannot stop talking about it.
Before the game, fellow Raider Deontae Hudson appeared to be bursting at the seams with excitement about the game.
“With Kev on my side, it gives me more of a chance to be explosive. I can put up more points when they can’t focus so much of their defensive efforts on me. Both me and Kev are going to put up some numbers tonight.”
Although the game was rather on the low scoring side, Hudson made good on his promise. Deontae put up 17 points alongside Badger’s 11. Teammate Alex "Muddy" Mustert earned another 12 points for his team, alongside his 10 boards.
Danish import Phillip Hansen had an impressive defensive outing against Lake Michigan College, and continues to impress in his rookie season. The big Dane grabbed four boards and had one block during the contest.
The Raiders are out to move up in the rankings when they host Kalamazoo Valley CC on Friday afternoon. Although quick to praise the squad for their talent and determination, Hudson had a few things to say about the Cougars.
“They’ve got some shooters, that’s for sure. We’re coming at them with all we’ve got on Friday, and we’re going to win.”
The Raiders square off against the KVCC squad who they dealt a crushing 82-62 loss earlier this season. GRCC is set to host the Cougars at 7:30 PM on Friday afternoon at the Gordon Hunsberger Arena.
