Box Score Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Community College’s women’s basketball team falls to 3-4 in the MCCAA West and 5-11 overall after Lansing Community College’s Stars dealt the Raiders a 58-78 loss.
That loss is GRCC’s second in as many games.
Raiders are deservingly disappointed by the outcome of the game. They held a 10 point lead at the half as freshmen
Stephanie Stevens left for the locker room having gone 3-of-4 from behind the arc and scored a total of 15 in the first half.
Stevens continued her assault on the rim in the second half scoring 11, but her hot streak wasn’t enough to keep the Stars at bay as GRCC was outscored by 30 in the second half.
Danielle Harrison finished the night for GRCC with a 12 point, 16 rebound double-double.
Stevens led the Raiders in total points 26 while
Alyssa VandenBerge also delivered for the Raiders scoring 8 points with 12 rebounds.
Lansing was led by Carli Reid. Reid finished the night with 29 points and two rebounds. LaTonya Shade delivered 21 points of her own, and Stephanie Manuel added 11 rebounds and 9 blocks to give the Stars the game.
GRCC’s Raiders must put this loss behind them as they next face the #1 team in the West and #8 in NJCAA Division II, Lake Michigan College’s Red Hawks
Lake Michigan, now 15-3 and undefeated in conference play, host the Raiders on Wednesday January 30
th at 5:30PM.
