Men's Basketball hosts Lansing's Stars

Grand Rapids, MI – During the 2011-2012 season,  Grand Rapids Community College’s 10-7  men’s basketball team visited a very tough Lansing Community College team and exited the arena with a 105-72 win that put them back on the map, so to speak.

Tonight the Raiders have the opportunity to make the same splash as a 12-6 Lansing team with a 5-1 MCCAA record visits GRCC tonight hoping to extend their 5-game win streak.

At 3-3 in conference play and 10-6 overall, GRCC’s men’s team needs a win to get momentum swinging back in their favor.

The change of terms witnessed a few changes in the Raider’s roster as it shrunk by a few names.  But, the addition of 6-1 forward freshman Willie Duke has all but made up for the difference.

Duke averages 12 points and 11 rebounds in 2013.  Add that to the contributions of incumbents Alex Mustert  Deontae Hudson and Kevin Badger  and one has a fairly threatening lineup to start with.

Lansing’s Stars have some firepower too.  Guards Devlin Bell and George Goodman along with forward Tyrin Wade are all averaging double digit scoring while several Stars coming off the bench are delivering more than breathers when they step on the court.

Should the Raiders earn the win on their home court tonight, one could hope to see this year’s squad follow the path of the 11-12 team which picked up considerable momentum as they worked deeper into the regular season.

Tonight’s contest takes place at 7:30PM at the Hunsburger Arena inside GRCC’s Ford Fieldhouse.
