Raiders keep playoff hopes alive

Grand Rapids, MI-- The Raiders defeated Kellogg CC's Bruins this evening by a score of 52-37.  In a match that saw the MCCAA West's 6th place team square off against its 7th place team, GRCC improved to 4-7 in conference play to keep their hopes for a playoff berth alive.

Destiney Robinson led the offensive charge in her return. After sitting out for a handful of games she posted a team high 15 points. Kelsey Jensen added 10 more points (along with 8 boards) as the Raiders bested a Kellogg squad that struggled to find their shooting touch (21%). Janele Johnson-Ellis had 6 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 steals.  Although Freshman Katie Mitchell was held scoreless, she finished with a team high 10 rebounds, and also delivered 3 assists.

Of the 37 points that Kellogg scored, 18 belonged to sophomore Center Samantha Krueger.  Kreuger also had 20 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 4 steals.

The Raiders improved to 9-11 overall, with a 4-7 record in conference play. The ladies take the court next when they head to Centreville, Michigan to take on the Glen Oaks CC Vikings.  In their last meeting against the Vikings, the Raiders were victorious 75-54.
