Box Score Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Community College’s men’s basketball team got off to a great start last night against Alma College’s JV team. That great start didn’t slow down as the Raiders rolled Alma 108-58.
The win brings GRCC to 4-2 on the year and provides some momentum to the young team as they’ve now won two in a row. After the loss, Alma’s JV squad is now 1-3.
GRCC was led in scoring and rebounding by sophomore center
Alex Mustert who finished the night with 18 points and 8 boards. Given how many points were scored, many Raiders posted some big offensive numbers.
Kevin Badger,
Deontae Hudson,
Miles Robinson,
Phillip Hansen and
Antoine Wilson all finished with scoring numbers in double digits.
More impressive than even the 50 point margin of victory was the intensity GRCC showed on the court. While holding commanding leads, fans didn’t see much jogging up and down the court by either team. Alma’s Scots fought for each point and played to win.
GRCC’s team dove for loose balls and allowed every member of the team to get a stake in the win.
Both teams played two halves like the score was 0-0.
Outmatched or not, Alma’s Maxx Jolls put together a sting of scoring worthy of mention he drained six consecutive three’s in the second half. He led his team with 20 points, 4 assists and 2 steals.
Head Coach TJ Carnegie was pleased with his team’s performance, but is always looking forward.
“Our guys played hard tonight; they should enjoy the win, but already be thinking about our next game. Tonight’s baskets don’t count on Monday. We’re going to have to go out and earn point and each win this season, one game at a time,” said Carnegie.
GRCC hosts Albion College’s JV Britton basketball team on Monday night at 7:30 at the Ford Fieldhouse.
