Grand Rapids, MI -- GRCC's men's and women's basketball teams were both dealt losses by the visiting Jets of Jackson Community College.  The women's loss leaves the team at 8-8 overall and 3-4 in conference play, while the men's loss leaves them at 10-7 overall and 5-2 in the MCCAA.

Jackson's women's team leads the NJCAA in scoring with an incredibly past-paced offense where five players are subbed in at a time, the press is on--and was on for over 39 minutes of the game--and no open shot goes untaken.  The Jets attempted 110 shots sinking 38, with 18 coming from beyond the arc.

GRCC's women began the game with only 6 players, but managed keep up with the Jets for nearly the entire game until they got into foul trouble late in the second half.  With only four and then three players on the court, the Jets surged ahead and left Grand Rapids with a 113-90 win over the Raiders.

The Raiders were led in scoring by Janele Johnson-Ellis who finished with 20 points, but several other Raiders posted similar numbers.  Caitlyn Patterson, Jordyn Priestley and Kelsey Jensen all scored 15 or more points on the night, and Hailey Majewski delivered a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Eleven of Jackson's players  put points on the board however leading the Jets was Kelsey White who finished with 21 points and six steals.

The men's team got a late start as the women's game ran late largely as a result of the 58 fouls committed during the women's game.  Despite leading 34-31 going into the second half, the Raiders couldn't hang on for the win losing to the Jets 67-78.  The loss is the second in a row for the Raiders following their five game win streak.

Leading the Raiders in scoring was Jimmy Carroll, Jr. who walked off the court with 14 points, 4 assists and 4 steals.  The Jets were led by Charquarius Adams who finished with 20 points, 4 assists and 5 steals.

Both Raider squads head to Lansing to take on the Stars this Saturday January 29, 2012.  The women's game starts at 1:00 with the men's following at 3:00pm.
