Grand Rapids, MI -- GRCC's men's basketball team won their home opener tonight against Aquinas College's JV team under the direction of their new coach, TJ Carnegie.  The Raiders, now 1-1 after losing their opening game to Mott CC, started the game slowly giving up six quick points to the Saints but rallied for the lead holding on to it for the rest of the game.

Leading the Raiders in points were sophomores Alex Lyle and Jimmy Carroll, Jr. who each finished the game with 17 points.  Carroll, Jr. also added seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals to lead his team to the win.

Tyler Krim had 13 points of his own going 3 of 5 from behind the arc and two of two form the line.   Krim also contributed two rebounds, three blocks and four steals.

Freshman Micah Gates led the Raiders in rebounds with 11 while scoring 10 for the Raiders.

The Saints were led by Creed Stapleton who finished the game with 24 points and 9 rebounds and Nick Gregory who scored 15 with 15 rebounds.

The Raiders will be back on the court next week Wednesday when they hit the road to face Alma College's JV team at 7:30 PM.
