Apr. 7, 2025, GRAND RAPIDS, MI – As the Grand Rapids Community College women's soccer program prepares for an exciting new era under first-year head coach Mario Zuniga-Gil, the team is thrilled to announce the addition of two new assistant coaches: Chris Denham and Molly Woiteshek.
"We're building something special here at GRCC," said Coach Zuniga-Gil, "and I couldn't be more excited to bring in two passionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated individuals in Chris and Molly to help us do that."
Chris Denham: A Seasoned Leader with Deep Local Roots
Chris Denham brings a wealth of experience to the Raiders' sidelines, having coached across the club, high school, and college levels for over a decade. Most recently, Denham served as an assistant coach at both Grace Christian University and Davenport University, and has been a key figure in the Michigan Rangers FC coaching staff since 2013. His leadership as the Foundation Phase Director for the Michigan Rangers and his stint as head coach of the Muskegon Risers Women's team in the UWS further reflect his well-rounded coaching background.
A Belding, Michigan native and Cornerstone University graduate with a degree in Sports Management, Denham holds a USSF 'B' License — a testament to his ongoing commitment to coaching education and personal development.
"Chris has been coaching in the area for a long time and knows the local landscape really well," said Zuniga-Gil. "He makes relationships a priority and is fully dedicated to his passion of coaching every day. He will be a tremendous asset as we look to build this program."
Molly Woiteshek: A Rising Star with Heart and Resilience
Molly Woiteshek joins GRCC as a recent graduate of Cornerstone University, where she captained the women's soccer team and helped turn the program into a top-five contender in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference. Her journey through injuries — including an ACL tear, multiple concussions, and a broken foot — has shaped her into a leader with both grit and gratitude.
In addition to her playing career, Woiteshek brings coaching experience at the high school and youth levels, including volunteer roles at Grand Haven High School and West Michigan Aviation Academy. She's also served as a leader at girls' soccer camps and attended the Women in Sports Leadership Conference in both 2018 and 2020.
Set to graduate this May with dual degrees in Creativity and Innovation (BA) and Biology (BS – Pre-Physician Assistant), along with a minor in Chemistry, Woiteshek brings a unique blend of creativity, empathy, and leadership to the Raiders' staff.
"Molly comes highly recommended by people I fully trust," Zuniga-Gil noted. "Her ability to be a positive role model and a leader will be crucial in connecting with our players. We are so excited to have her with us as she begins her coaching journey."
With a dynamic coaching staff now in place, GRCC Women's Soccer is poised for a strong season ahead. There are still a few roster spots available for the upcoming season. Interested athletes can submit their information through the recruit questionnaire here.
