Tyler, TX—After finishing out their regular season with a 6-5-1 record, the Raiders have sent their women’s tennis team to Tyler, Texas to battle for the national championship. The ladies closed out their season with 5 consecutive victories, and are making some noise in the NJCAA DI National Women’s Tennis competition.
After the first day of competition GRCC is in a 7 way tie for 7th place with 6 points earned. Heather Delaney earned a victory over Rachel Jefcoat of Jones County JC with set results of 7-5, 3-6 and 6-4, Lauren Heemstra earned a victory over Brown University’s Jennifer Lee and Aubrey Kemme defeated Ali Rudolph of Mississippi Gulf Coast CC.
At just 2 points out of a 9th place position, the Raiders will need to put forth their best effort on day 2 to move further up the list.
