Grand Rapids, MI—After announcing her retirement following the 2011 Tennis season, GRCC coach Sue Katerberg has decided to come back for one more season.
After a lengthy process of hiring a new athletic director, GRCC was still in the hunt for a new women’s tennis coach. Rather than leaving the athletes in suspense as to who their new coach would be, Katerberg decided to come out of retirement.
Coach Katerberg will coach one more season, and the Raiders are very happy to have her back. GRCC is confident that she can continue her winning ways. Katerberg has been named MCCAA Coach of the Year 12 times and NJCAA Region XII Coach of the Year 7 times. She has led the Raiders to 18 national tournaments, had numerous GRCC athletes earn MCCAA All-State honors, MCCAA All-State Academic honors, and 10 students receive NJCAA Academic All-Americans.
Prior to announcing her retirement she was awarded the GRCC’s Gordon Hunsburger Award for her dedication to the women’s tennis program.
