Leo Tilly's Hat Trick Propels Men's Soccer to a 6-2 win

Women Draw at Cornerstone

Sept. 6, 2025, GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Grand Rapids Community College soccer teams hit the road Sunday, with the women battling to a 1-1 draw against Cornerstone University's reserve squad, while the men surged past Cuyahoga Community College 6-2 behind a hat trick from freshman Leo Tilly.

In the women's match at Cornerstone in Grand Rapids, freshman forward Skyelar Albrecht (Grandville, Mich.) provided the offensive spark, netting the Raiders' lone goal. Albrecht has now scored three times across GRCC's last two matches. The draw moves the Raiders to 2-1-1 on the season.

Meanwhile in Highland Hills, Ohio, the Raider men overcame an early deficit before powering past Tri-C. After the hosts struck first, Levi Brumels (assist from Joel) evened the score with 25 minutes left in the first half. Just 14 minutes later, Ali Sina Sakhizada (assist from Tilly) put GRCC on top, and Tilly added his first of the day off a feed from Lucas Bouma to make it 3-1 heading into the break.

Tilly completed his hat trick in the second half, striking twice more – once unassisted and once off a setup from Jamie Bautista – giving the freshman three goals on the afternoon. Brumels capped the scoring with his second of the game in the closing minutes. Tri-C added one more tally midway through the half, but GRCC's attack proved too much.

The victory lifts the Raider men to 2-1 on the season.

Both GRCC squads return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 10, opening conference play at home against conference foes at 2 p.m. at Midwest United Sports Complex in Kentwood.
