2025 MCCAA/Region XII Volleyball Awards
Nov. 11, 2025, GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After capturing its 14th NJCAA Region XII district championship this past weekend, the No. 13-ranked Grand Rapids Community College volleyball team was rewarded with a wave of postseason honors, recognizing the outstanding play and leadership that powered the Raiders to one of the best seasons in program history.
Sophomore outside hitter Taylor Kik earned a sweep of top honors, being named the Northern Conference Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference, All-MCCAA, and All-Region. A returning All-American, Kik recently surpassed 700 career kills and continues to shine on both ends of the court, leading the team in kills (327) and digs (237) while ranking third in aces (24). She also boasts one of the nation's best hitting percentages among outsides at .292.
Freshman right-side hitter/setter Vanessa Walker also earned a spot among the elite, being named All-Region, All-MCCAA, First Team All-Conference, and the Northern Conference Freshman of the Year. Walker has been an all-around force, ranking second on the team in kills (191), digs (218), assists (353), and aces (34), while adding 43 blocks. She's coming off back-to-back triple-doubles in the regional tournament.
Sophomore middle blocker Christina Williams collected All-Region, All-MCCAA, and First Team All-Conference recognition after anchoring GRCC's front line. She leads the team in blocks (78) and hitting percentage (.345), and ranks fourth in kills (143). Williams was dominant in the regional final, hitting .500 in the championship victory.
Freshman outside hitter Kaylee Kranz joined the trio on the All-Region, All-MCCAA, and First Team All-Conference lists while also earning Northern Conference All-Freshman Team honors. Kranz ranks third on the team in kills (186) and also owns one of the highest hitting percentages among outsides in the nation at .285.
Freshman middle blocker/right-side Kirstyn Lothschultz earned Second Team All-Conference and Northern Conference All-Freshman Team honors after a standout debut season. She ranks second on the team in blocks (62) and fifth in kills (134).
Sophomore setter Ava Tarsi was named Second Team All-Conference after directing the Raiders' balanced offense. Tarsi leads the team in assists (374) and ranks fourth in aces (23).
Sophomore Cece Huizingh and freshman Olivia Inthout split time at the libero position throughout the season, providing consistent defense and passing. Huizingh ranks third on the team in digs (214) and fifth in aces (22), while Inthout added 128 digs. The duo combined for 92 assists.
Head Coach Chip Will was named Conference Coach of the Year, MCCAA Coach of the Year, and District Coach of the Year after guiding GRCC to its 15th conference title, 12th MCCAA championship, and 14th regional crown.
The Raiders, now 24-2 and riding a 22-match win streak, will compete at the NJCAA Division II National Championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on November 19–22, looking to add another chapter to one of the most successful seasons in program history.
