Taylor Kik Named NJCAA DII First Team All-American

Cementing Legacy at GRCC

Past Raider Volleyball All-Americans

Dec. 3, 2024, GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –
Grand Rapids Community College volleyball standout Taylor Kik has been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DII First Team All-American, an honor announced Tuesday. Kik's achievement adds another chapter to the program's storied history, making her the 15th All-American in GRCC volleyball history, the sixth to earn First Team honors, and only the third freshman to achieve the distinction.

A Historic Freshman Campaign
Hailing from Grand Rapids and a graduate of NorthPointe Christian High School, Kik has emerged as one of the most decorated freshmen in GRCC volleyball history. Her accolades include All-Region, All-MCCAA, First Team All-Conference, Conference Player of the Year, MVP of the regional tournament, and a spot on the All-Tournament Team at nationals.

Kik's outstanding contributions helped propel the Raiders to a 23-match win streak and multiple titles, including their 13th conference championship, 11th MCCAA title, and 13th regional crown. The team concluded the season with a No. 12 national ranking in NJCAA DII.

Head coach Chip Will lauded Kik's impact both on and off the court.  "I'm so happy to see Taylor get rewarded for a great season with such a high honor of All-American status," Will said. "Taylor has grown so much on and off the court this season, but always has prioritized being the best teammate she can be. She has helped cement her place in Raider Nation history with this season of play. A truly humble player, Taylor has always given praise to her teammates in any recognition she has gained. The Raider Nation family is so proud of Taylor."

Record-Breaking Performance
Kik's performance on the court was nothing short of stellar. She finished the season with 400 kills, ranking in the top-10 nationally with an average of 4.26 kills per set. Her .295 hitting percentage placed her among the top-five outside hitters nationwide. Additionally, she tallied 29 service aces, 31 blocks, and 252 digs, showcasing her all-around excellence.

Continuing a Legacy of Excellence
Kik's achievement marks the eighth time in the last nine seasons that a member of the GRCC volleyball team has earned All-American honors. She joins a distinguished group of student-athletes, including Anna Tubbergen, Elicia Land, Olivia Lemke, and Gloria Gaston from GRCC's women's cross country team, who also earned All-American recognition this academic year.

With such a remarkable freshman campaign, Kik has firmly established herself as a cornerstone of GRCC volleyball's legacy and a beacon of Raider Nation pride.
