Grand Rapids, MICH – GRCC's 4
th ranked volleyball team hosts Lansing Community College's Stars tonight at 6:30PM at the Gerald R. Ford Fieldhouse.
The Stars arrive in Grand Rapids with a 4-5 conference record, 8-7 overall, resting in 5
th place in the MCCAA West 4.5 games behind #1 Grand Rapids. Leading Lansing this season are Freshman Erin Cooper and sophomores Kaycee Richmond and McKenzie Kench.
Cooper has recorded a team high 102 kills with 153 digs.
Richmond adds 92 digs with a team high .306 hitting percentage and 24 total block.
Kench's 88 kills are the third highest for the Stars. She adds 69 digs to her rap sheet thus far in 2017.
Freshman Setter
Jazlynn Maxon has recorded 433 assists.
Hannah Whiteman leads the team in digs with 301.
Leading the Raiders in kills thus far is Freshman
Kendra DeJonge with 137 while adding 132 digs—the second highest on the roster. Sophomore
Hannah Stearns' 110 kills is the second highest thus far this season. Stearns 33 total blocks Leave her 8 short of
Kayla Salyer who leads the Raiders with 36.
Freshman Middle
Ally German leads Grand Rapids in hitting percentage with a .412 having 8 starts for the season with 26 sets played.
Lauren Helsen's .337 is the second highest percentage on the team. Lauren has recorded 344 assists this season having started all 12 matches this season.
Sophomore
Peyton Helsen leads the Raiders in digs with 168.
Following tonight's game against Lansing, GRCC will host Kalamazoo Valley Community College on Thursday, September 28
th at 6:30PM.
The Raiders will then enjoy a break from competition on Friday before hosting the Raider Challenge on Saturday the 30
th and Sunday, October 1
st.
