Box Score Grand Rapids, MICH – GRCC's volleyball team moved to #3 in NJCAA Division II play this week and marked the occasion with a 3-0 win over Glen Oaks Community College led by
Hannah Stearns stearns who finished the night with 18 kills—while hitting .600—adding 4 blocks.
Kendra DeJonge finished the night with a cool 10 kill, 10 dig double-double and
Lauren Helsen followed suit with her own racking up 23 assists and 22 digs.
The Raiders remain first in the
MCCAA West at 11-0 with an 18-1 overall one game ahead of Muskegon Community College. Nationally, the Raiders trail only #1 Owens Community College who hasn't slipped from the nation's top spot since jumping #2 Parkland late in September.
GRCC will host conference foe and MCCAA West #2 Muskegon Community College on October 10
th at 6:30PM with both team's vying for first in the West.
Muskegon is led offensively by sophomore Robbie Berg who has racked up an impressive 365 kills thus far in 2017. Freshman Julie Brown has added 213 kills to the Jayhawks season total while tallying 68 blocks.
Setter Katie Veihl's leads the team in assists with 736 while Samantha Hockstra leads MCC in digs with 474.
