Box Score Muskegon, MI – GRCC’s national ranked #3 Volleyball team knocked off Muskegon Community College on road 3-1, ending a two year streak where the Jayhawks dealt them their first conference loss for the past two years.
GRCC’s record improves to 5-0 in the MCCAA and 17-1 overall while Muskegon now assumes a #2 spot in the MCCAA West below GRCC with a 4-1 MCCAA record while 11-9 overall.
The match started in a familiar fashion as the Raiders dropped the first set 23-25. The following three sets were decidedly all GRCC as they took them 25-15, 25-16 and 25-18.
Hannah Geelhoed led the Raiders with 11 kills—no errors--2 solo blocks and 5 block assists.
Nicole Czehowski delivered 10 kills and 4 block assists.
GRCC recorded 14 total blocks, 48 kills, 38 digs—eleven coming by way of
Karleigh Strazisar—and 4 services aces.
Six Raiders had over five kills in the four sets.
With a road win against a consistently tough Muskegon team under their belts, GRCC must now prepare to face long-time conference rival KVCC.
KVCC’s Cougars are 6-7 overall and 4-1 in the MCCAA with their lone loss coming by way of Muskegon.
