SEPT. 12, 2026, MIDLAND, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Community College men's and women's cross country teams competed in their second races of the season Friday at the Northwood Invitational at Fisher Family Trails, with the Raider women finishing fourth overall and first among the junior colleges in the field.

Women Finish Fourth, Top All Junior Colleges

The GRCC women placed fourth out of 11 teams with 136 points, finishing as the top junior college team in the field. The remaining teams were four-year institutions.

Host Northwood University won the team competition with 40 points, followed by Saginaw Valley State University with 61 and Lake Superior State University with 63.

Freshman Mackenzie Conner once again led the Raiders, finishing 12th overall out of 92 runners with a college-best 5K time of 19:43.

Sophomore Mackenzie Baldrica was next for GRCC, placing 23rd in 20:38, while sophomore Vivian Idziak finished 32nd in 21:10.

Sophomore Suzannah Dipiazza placed 38th in 21:42, followed by freshman Kailey Mann in 45th at 22:13.1 and sophomore Leah Williams in 46th at 22:13.9.

Sophomore Kadie Norman finished 64th in 23:04, while sophomore Carolina Lopez-Lopez placed 86th in 28:36. Freshman Glorious Yarsiah rounded out the Raider runners, finishing 89th in 30:39.

The fourth-place team finish marks another strong showing for the Raider women early in the season, as GRCC continues to establish itself among the top junior college programs in the field.

Men Compete with Three Runners

The GRCC men competed with three runners for the second consecutive race, meaning the Raiders were not eligible for a team score and only individual results were counted.

The men typically compete in an 8K, but Friday's race was contested over four miles and featured 110 total runners. Davenport University won the team competition.

Sophomore Brady Morrow led the Raiders, finishing 36th overall with a time of 22:08. Sophomore Corey Jones followed in 42nd at 22:25, while freshman Jacob Creager finished 90th in 26:11.

Both Raider cross country teams will return to competition Sept. 18 at the Lansing Community College Invitational.
