Mar. 29, 2026, UNIVERSITY CENTER, MI – It was a milestone Sunday for Grand Rapids Community College softball, as head coach Chuck White earned his 100th career victory while leading the Raiders to a doubleheader sweep of Delta College. The baseball team followed suit, completing a sweep of its own as both programs improved to 6-1 in conference play.
Softball: White Reaches 100 Wins in Style
In his fourth season at the helm, White now holds a 100-52-2 overall record, including a 55-22 mark in conference play. Under his leadership, the Raiders have captured two conference championships and finished as regional runner-up twice.
"Coach White's impact on our program has been nothing short of outstanding," said Director of Athletics Lauren Ferullo. "Reaching 100 career wins is a testament to his leadership, consistency, and the culture he has built within our softball program. We're proud of what he's accomplished and excited for what's ahead."
GRCC (17-6, 6-1 MCCAA) started off the day with a 9-2 win in game one. Delta struck first with back-to-back doubles to open the bottom of the first inning, but the Raiders quickly took control. The pitching duo of Megan Lillie and Lilly Klop shut down the Pioneers the rest of the way, allowing just two more hits and one additional run.
The Raiders' offense exploded for 14 hits, led by Klop's perfect 3-for-3 performance with two doubles and an RBI. Paige Arthur, Evelyn McEachen, Kellsie Dieterle, and Kenady O'Leary each contributed two hits in the win.
Game two proved to be a nail-biter, with GRCC securing the milestone after edging Delta 2-1. The Pioneers once again struck first, but that would be their only run of the game. Starting pitcher Kalani Stowe (6-3) was dominant, retiring 14 consecutive batters at one point.
GRCC broke through in the fifth inning when Stowe tripled and later scored on an RBI single by Caitlyn Horvath. Ella Showers followed with a sacrifice fly to bring home the go-ahead run.
Delta threatened in the bottom of the seventh with runners on second and third and one out, but Klop slammed the door, recording a strikeout and a game-ending pop out to earn her second save of the season. The Raiders tallied seven hits, with O'Leary and Grace Salley leading the way with two each.
Baseball: Raiders Complete Sweep Behind Balanced Effort
The GRCC baseball team (7-10, 6-1 MCCAA) matched the softball squad with an 8-1 and 8-3 sweep over Delta.
In game one, the Raiders capitalized on Delta miscues early, scoring four runs in the third inning behind doubles from Andrew Conrad and Cannon Paul. GRCC added another run in the fourth on an RBI single by Carter Gulick and plated three more in the sixth without recording a hit, taking advantage of two hit-by-pitches and two walks.
Sophomore Kyle O'Hearn (2-1) delivered a strong outing on the mound, striking out five and allowing just one walk over six innings. Dax Rossin closed the game with a perfect seventh inning.
Game two saw GRCC out-hit by Delta 10-9, but again took advantage of errors and free passes, including five walks and a hit batter. Peter Heintz led the offensive charge, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored. Conrad and Paul each added two hits in the victory.
Sophomore Kyler Larsen (1-1) earned the win, tossing six innings with four strikeouts and just one walk. Owen Waha secured the final three outs to complete the sweep.
