Feb. 6, 2026, GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Grand Rapids Community College completed a home sweep of Lake Michigan College on Wednesday night, earning conference victories on both the women's and men's sides in the second meeting between the two teams this week. The teams split the first matchup on Monday, with the GRCC women winning and the LMC men taking the decision.
Women's Basketball
The GRCC women stayed in second place in the MCCAA Western Conference with an 81–53 win, improving to 18-6 overall and 7-1 in league play. Lake Michigan College fell to 6-12 (2-5).
The game also marked Sophomore Day, honoring Averi Peot, Sophia Wozniak, Tianna Daye, Harmonie Belton, Emma Picarazzi, Ka'Shari Babb and Avery DePagter.
Peot turned in a career performance, scoring a career-high 33 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the field and 11-of-13 from the free throw line. She added eight rebounds, three assists and a team-high three steals. Over the past five days, Peot has totaled 80 points while shooting 71.4 percent from the floor, along with 23 rebounds, nine assists, five steals and three blocks.
GRCC controlled the game on the glass, posting its largest rebounding margin of the season at +23, outrebounding LMC 53-30. The Raiders also held decisive advantages with 18 more points off turnovers and 24 more points in the paint.
Wozniak added 14 points and six rebounds, while Daye chipped in 11 points and five boards. Lydia Schilthroat tied Peot for the game-high with eight rebounds.
Men's Basketball
The GRCC men remained atop the MCCAA Western Conference standings with a 100–83 win, improving to 17-6 overall and 7-2 in conference play. Lake Michigan College, which entered the night tied for first, dropped to 14-7 (6-3).
The Raiders reached the 100-point mark for the seventh time this season, but the win did not come easily. LMC led by as many as 16 points late in the first half before GRCC closed the gap to trail just 44-41 at the break.
The second half featured five lead changes, until Tyran Thomas scored on a layup with 11:55 remaining to give the Raiders the lead for good. GRCC then pulled away behind its dominance on the boards, outrebounding the Red Hawks 55-29.
Six Raiders scored in double figures, led by Nate Keil's 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting. E.J. Bowman added 18 points, including four three-pointers, while Matt Richards recorded 17 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for his fourth straight double-double. Thomas finished with 14 points and nine rebounds, Jared Demoff posted 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three blocks, and McRecco McFadden chipped in 10 points.
