GRCC Soccer Splits Conference Matches at Jackson College

OCT. 9, 2026, SUMMIT TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Grand Rapids Community College soccer split its conference matches at Jackson College on Friday, with the women's team falling 3-0 to the Jets before the men's team rallied for a dramatic 3-1 victory, highlighted by two late goals to secure the win.

Women's Soccer Falls to Jackson

The GRCC women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Jackson College, moving to 5-6-1 overall and 5-5 in conference play with three conference matches remaining.

The Jets struck almost immediately, scoring just eight seconds into the match before adding another goal four minutes later to take a 2-0 lead. Jackson added its third goal in the 67th minute to complete the scoring.

Jackson controlled much of the offensive play, outshooting the Raiders 23-6. Sophomore goalkeeper Nyleese Bazan-Hernandez kept GRCC within reach with nine saves in the loss.

The Raiders will look to bounce back when they return home for a non-conference matchup against Owens Community College on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m.

Men's Soccer Scores Twice Late to Earn 3-1 Victory

The GRCC men's soccer team delivered a strong finish Friday, scoring twice in the final four minutes to defeat Jackson College 3-1 and improve to 6-4-3 overall and 4-3-1 in conference play.

Jackson opened the scoring in the 20th minute, but the Raiders answered just before halftime. Lucas Bouma scored his fifth goal of the season in the 41st minute, with assists from Manuel Dipres and Dominic Diaz-Borrello, to send the teams into halftime tied 1-1.

The match remained deadlocked until the 87th minute, when Dipres found the back of the net for his eighth goal of the season. Goalkeeper Ramon Lujano-Salto and Bouma were credited with assists on the go-ahead goal, which Dipres finished from 12 yards out.

Just two minutes later, Irvin Hernandez-Cisneros put the match away, scoring his fifth goal of the season from six yards out on another assist from Lujano-Salto to seal the 3-1 victory.

GRCC finished with an 18-12 advantage in shots and an 8-4 edge in corner kicks. Lujano-Salto made five saves to earn the win in goal while also contributing two assists in the Raiders' late offensive surge.

The victory moves GRCC ahead in the conference standings as the team continues its push toward the postseason, with two conference matches remaining.

The Raiders will return home for their next conference matchup against Schoolcraft College on Friday, Oct. 16, at 2 p.m.
