Jan. 24, 2026, GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Community College women's and men's basketball teams continued their strong conference starts on Saturday, sweeping visiting Glen Oaks Community College at the Ford Fieldhouse. Both Raider squads have now won five straight games and remain unbeaten in conference play.
Women's Basketball
The GRCC women led wire to wire in a dominant 79-34 victory, improving to 15-5 overall and 4-0 in conference play. Glen Oaks fell to 6-12 (1-3).
The win marked GRCC's 20th consecutive victory over the Vikings, a streak dating back to 2015, and showcased one of the most impressive defensive performances of the season. The Raiders surrendered a season-low 34 points, limited Glen Oaks to a team-worst 5 percent shooting from three-point range (1-for-19), and held the Vikings to just four free-throw attempts.
All 12 Raiders scored and grabbed at least one rebound in the balanced effort. Tianna Daye led all scorers with 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting, adding three three-pointers. Sophia Wozniak followed with 16 points, while Wozniak and Averi Peot shared the team lead with seven rebounds apiece. Harmonie Belton added 10 points, a game-high seven assists, and a team-high three steals.
Men's Basketball
The GRCC men survived a late rally from Glen Oaks to earn a hard-fought 95-91 win, moving to 14-4 overall and 4-0 in conference action. The Vikings dropped to 8-10 (0-4).
Glen Oaks opened the game with a 13-0 run to take a 17-8 lead, but the Raiders responded with a 13-0 run of their own to go ahead 21-17. GRCC led the rest of the first half and carried a 47-40 advantage into the break.
A Zeek Jackson layup gave the Raiders their largest lead at 77-62 with 7:20 remaining, but Glen Oaks surged back to within one at 85-84 with 2:07 left. Just six seconds later, Gaden Muxlow knocked down a key three-pointer to push the lead back to four. After another Viking three cut the margin to three with six seconds remaining, EJ Bowman sealed the game by hitting one of two free throws.
GRCC shot 49.2 percent from the field, compared to 41.9 percent for Glen Oaks. Jackson led the Raiders with 19 points, eight assists, and three steals. Recco McFadden and Muxlow provided a spark off the bench with 17 and 12 points, respectively. Bowman finished with 14 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Tyran Thomas added 13 points and seven rebounds. Lucas Pitsch chipped in eight points and a game-high nine rebounds.
