2025 Baseball Capped Fantastic Season with Eight Players Earning Recognition

and Coach Eddington, earning his 3rd straight conference Coach of the Year award

May 20, 2025, GRAND RAPIDS, MI - The Grand Rapids Community College Raiders baseball team concluded the 2025 season with remarkable achievements, both individually and collectively. Under the leadership of Head Coach Mike Eddington, in his seventh year at the helm, the Raiders secured their third consecutive Northern Conference Championship, finishing with a 27-22 overall record. Their dominance was evident as they led the conference in key offensive categories, including batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, RBIs, and stolen bases. On the mound, they topped the conference in ERA and ranked second in the entire Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) in strikeouts per nine innings (9.4). 

Individual Honors and Standout Performances

All-Region, All-MCCAA, and First Team All-Conference Selections:

Thano Klett (Sophomore, RHP)
Klett delivered a stellar season, earning All-Region, All-MCCAA, and First Team All-Conference honors. He posted a 7-1 record with a 1.94 ERA (1.64 in conference play), two shutouts, and 49 strikeouts over 46.1 innings, holding opponents to a .235 batting average. 

Andrew Pohlmann (Sophomore, LHP)
A Saginaw Valley State University commit, Pohlmann achieved All-Region, All-MCCAA, and First Team All-Conference recognition. He recorded a 6-2 record with a 3.99 ERA (2.97 in conference), two shutouts, and a team-high 59 strikeouts in 47.1 innings, limiting hitters to a .251 average. 

Joey Hysell (Sophomore, C)
Hysell's offensive prowess earned him All-Region, All-MCCAA, and First Team All-Conference honors. He had .358 batting average (.408 in conference), 53 hits and a solid .975 fielding percentage.  He also led the team with 18 doubles, six home runs, 43 RBIs, a .628 slugging percentage. 

Kyle O'Hearn (Freshman, RHP)
O'Hearn's impressive debut season garnered All-Region, All-MCCAA, First Team All-Conference, and Conference All-Freshman Team accolades. He achieved a 5-3 record with a 2.45 ERA (a team-best 0.60 in conference), three shutouts, 43 strikeouts over 44 innings, and held opponents to a .216 batting average. 

Second Team All-Conference and Freshman Honors:

Peter Heintz (Freshman, OF)
Heintz earned Second Team All-Conference and Conference All-Freshman Team honors, batting .367 (.400 in conference) with 51 hits, eight doubles, two triples, four home runs, 36 RBIs, a .540 slugging percentage, and a .981 fielding percentage. 

Ty Sandwick (Sophomore, OF)
A Grand Valley State University commit, Sandwick led the team with a .370 batting average (.405 in conference) and 57 hits. He added 12 doubles, two triples, 29 RBIs, 11 stolen bases, and maintained a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. 

Jack Lockwood (Freshman, OF)
Lockwood's contributions earned him Second Team All-Conference and Conference All-Freshman Team honors. He batted .325 (.373 in conference) with 53 hits, 11 doubles, three triples (team-high), two home runs, 35 RBIs, and a team-best 16 stolen bases. 

Cannon Paul (Freshman, Middle Infielder)
A Western Michigan University commit, Paul received Second Team All-Conference recognition, hitting .315 (.350 in conference) with 47 hits, 10 doubles, two home runs, 31 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases. 

Coaching Excellence

Head Coach Mike Eddington was honored as the Conference Coach of the Year for the third consecutive season, a testament to his leadership and the team's consistent performance.
