Apr. 30, 2025, CALEDONIA, MI – The Grand Rapids Community College baseball team continued its strong late-season push with a solid 6-1 win over Davenport University's JV squad on Tuesday afternoon. The nine-inning road victory improves the Raiders' record to 27-19 overall.
GRCC wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, stringing together three straight singles to open the second inning. Sophomore third baseman Xavier Allen knocked a single to right field to plate the game's first run. Moments later, Haiden Noakes drew a bases-loaded walk to give the Raiders an early 2-0 lead.
The offense kept rolling in the third, as J.T. Ten Eyck drove in a run with an RBI single before Noakes earned another bases-loaded walk to make it 4-0. In the fifth, Ten Eyck led off with a single and came around to score on a two-run single by Jack Lockwood, who also added a triple and two RBIs to lead the offense.
On the mound, Connor Wallace (3-0) earned the win with a dominant three-inning outing, allowing just one hit and no runs. The bullpen was equally sharp, with Case Hennip, Landon Terry, Ohlen Bond, and Sam Schmuker combining to keep Davenport in check. The Raiders carried a shutout into the ninth, but an unusual RBI groundout—off the knob of the bat—broke up the clean sheet.
GRCC's defense was flawless, committing no errors, while the offense tallied 10 hits, including two each from Lockwood and Ten Eyck.
The conference champion Raiders return to action on May 5 with a key matchup at Lansing Community College.
