Dominant and Decorated: GRCC Softball's Postseason Awards Highlight Record-Breaking 2025 Season

Nine Players were honored with post season awards

May 13, 2025, GRAND RAPIDS, MI - After a dominant 2025 season that saw them finish 39-6, claim the MCCAA Northern Conference Championship, and finish as regional runner-up for the second time in three years, the Grand Rapids Community College softball team earned a staggering list of postseason awards. Led by a deep and talented freshman class and an experienced coaching staff, the Raiders not only led the MCCAA in nearly every major statistical category but also took home the top honors at both the team and individual levels.

Kalani Stowe: The Best in the Conference—and One of the Best in the Nation

Freshman Kalani Stowe delivered one of the most impressive two-way seasons in GRCC history. The P/OF earned All-Region, All-MCCAA, First Team All-Conference, Conference Player of the Year, Conference Freshman of the Year, and All-Freshman Team honors.

From the circle, Stowe was nearly untouchable:
  • 18-1 record
  • 1.02 ERA (1st in MCCAA, 3rd in nation)
  • 7 shutouts (1st in MCCAA)
  • 10.84 strikeouts/game (1st in MCCAA, top-10 nationally)
  • .142 batting average against (1st in MCCAA, top-10 nationally)
  • 159 strikeouts (3rd in MCCAA)
At the plate, Stowe hit .441 with 12 doubles, 4 triples, 2 home runs, and 51 stolen bases (2nd in MCCAA). She also scored 58 runs (3rd in MCCAA), cementing herself as one of the most complete players in the nation.

Natalee Beck: Offensive Catalyst and Two-Way Threat

Freshman Natalee Beck nearly maintained a .500 batting average all year, finishing at .496 (2nd in MCCAA). She led the Raiders with 54 RBI and added 2 home runs, all while striking out just 5 times in 150 plate appearances (3%).

From the circle, Beck contributed a 4-1 record, 1.21 ERA (2nd in MCCAA), and 2 saves. She also ranked 2nd in the conference in both on-base percentage (.567) and batting average against (.165). She earned All-Region, All-MCCAA, First Team All-Conference, All-Freshman Team, and District B All-Tournament Team honors.

Grace Chisek: A Complete Shortstop

Freshman Grace Chisek was a model of consistency and production, batting .489 (3rd in MCCAA) while ranking top-5 in the league in:
  • Runs scored (58)
  • Hits (67)
  • Doubles (19)
  • Triples (5)
  • Total bases (108)
  • Walks (20)
  • On-base percentage (.556)
She also stole 28 bases and posted an elite .948 fielding percentage at shortstop. In the postseason, Chisek elevated her game even further, hitting .583 with 3 home runs and 7 RBI in the regional tournament. Her honors included All-Region, All-MCCAA, First Team All-Conference, All-Freshman Team, and District B All-Tournament Team.

Madison Miller: Veteran Leader Behind the Plate

Sophomore catcher Madison Miller brought a steady presence behind the plate and a productive bat to the lineup. She hit .411 with:
  • 13 doubles (3rd on team)
  • 44 RBI (3rd on team)
  • 17 stolen bases
  • 43 runs, 51 hits, and a .540 slugging percentage
Miller committed just 2 errors all season, while opposing teams rarely attempted to steal against her. She was named All-MCCAA and First Team All-Conference.

More Standout Freshmen

Grace Salley (3B): Batted .394 with 27 RBI, a .479 slugging %, and perfect 16-for-16 stolen bases. She ranked 9th in the MCCAA in on-base percentage (.508) and earned All-MCCAA, First Team All-Conference, and All-Freshman Team honors.

Violet McWhinnie (1B): Posted a .402 batting average, 39 hits, 2 home runs, and 38 RBI, with a .515 slugging % and .468 OBP. She struck out only 4 times in 109 plate appearances (3%), earning Second Team All-Conference.

Lillian Klop (P/INF): Delivered a 6-1 record, 2.59 ERA, 2 shutouts, 40 strikeouts and just 8 walks. Opponents batted only .229 against her. At the plate, she hit .386 with a .500 slugging percentage, and was selected to the District B All-Tournament Team and Second Team All-Conference.

Evelyn McEachen (OF): GRCC's everyday center fielder hit .302 with 7 doubles, 2 triples, and a .476 slugging percentage, while going 12-for-12 in stolen bases. She committed zero errors all year and earned Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Libby VanFleet (OF/P): Hit .329 with 24 hits, 21 RBI, and 20 walks, while going 10-for-10 in stolen bases. In the circle, she pitched 40 innings, finishing 7-0 with 41 strikeouts, earning Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Team Dominance Across the Board

GRCC didn't just win games—they dominated the league statistically. The Raiders led all 17 MCCAA teams in:
  • Team batting average (.383)
  • Runs scored (413)
  • RBI (351)
  • Walks (177)
  • Stolen bases (164)
  • On-base percentage (.466)
  • Shutouts (15)
  • Batting average against (.207)
Chuck White: Coach of the Year

In his third season at the helm, Head Coach Chuck White was named Conference Coach of the Year, having developed one of the deepest and most balanced teams in the state. With an explosive offense, shutdown pitching, and elite defense, White's team was a model of consistency and execution.
